Eretes Bloom began in May 2000 as a monthly literary magazine featuring short stories and poetry by little- and moderately-known American and British English writers until May 2005. Eretes Bloom Manuscript Editing and Proofreading was established as a sole-proprietor online editing business in 2013.
The word erete (also arete) is from the Greek for “perfection in art.” This is interpreted in recognition of a Socratic approach to the concept of perfection as a process toward an ideal. The artist/seeker and a mentoring partner make exploration to mutual benefit. Both form and content are important; however, form must carry the content (not the other way around) just as the horse must carry the rider.
Personalized freelance editing and proofreading for general fiction and non-fiction manuscripts custom-tailored to enhance the unique voice of each author. Editor and writer together tackle noggles (large conceptual issues of structure), naggles (sections, paragraphs and sentences) and niggles (small details of form and the expression it carries) in the writing. Specialized editing assistance offered for English Second Language writers in standard American English form.

As an editor, Elizabeth will treat your work as she treats her own: asking for the very best you can give. With thoughtful suggestions she has helped me shape and reshape my manuscript into much more than even I dreamed it could be. She is a taskmaster but with a gentle hand that leads rather than pushes. She has edited only one of my manuscripts, but I look forward to working with her again. Don’t hire Elizabeth if you are looking for a cookie cutter book editor. But if you want the most thought and care for your work that you can get, I highly recommend Elizabeth Drake-Boyt. Marilyn D.
Elizabeth's work speaks for itself and everything she does is timely, professional and well put together. She is responsive, detail oriented and easy to work with. She is the ideal editor/proofreader for a book project. Working with Elizabeth was the best decision I've made for my book project. Bektemba N.
Elizabeth is highly skilled in the field of fiction and non-fiction writing. Creating a marketable manuscript is a daunting challenge. I’m in the process of writing a book. I feel confident that Elizabeth’s skills in editing and proof reading will help me complete “The Great American Novel!” Cathy W.
From the moment I read Elizabeth's profile and application for my job, I could tell she genuinely enjoys editing and proofreading. I decided to work with her and it was the best choice I could have made. She really helped me put my book together and clear up the muddled thoughts and errors. Her turn-around time was very reasonable. I will definitely use her again for my next book and refer my associates to her. Ta’Adhmeeka T.
Elizabeth is a pleasure to work with and she is good at what she does. She has made my writing experience much easier with her suggestions and she is very prompt. I plan to continue working with Elizabeth in the future. Cynthia M.
Elizabeth really dug into the manuscript and got the syntax, spelling, and paragraph flow into great shape with patience, hard work and consistently high standards. With her expert support and ongoing encouragement, my work now has a professional finished appearance. I look forward to working with her as my editor for future writing projects. Michael D.
